The taste of chicken nuggets is good. The taste is tender and juicy. My favorite chicken nuggets are from McDonalds. Sometimes when I get home after school I grab a round pan, put some vegetable oil on the pan, and throw the pan on the stove. Then I put the frozen chicken nuggets on to the pan and I wait till they turn brownish. Finally, I put the nuggets on a plate, I put some ketchup on the side of the plate, and take my plate to my room and then do my homework for school.

Have you ever stopped and thought, how is the world going to end? There is so much violence in this world you sometimes don't even know what is right or wrong. A lot of people say “oh, the world is going to end in 2012”. Do you really think that is true? I don't think that is right because nobody knows when the world is going to end. People should work and do their best with their everyday life, so that when that day comes they are ready. When they die they would probably want their families to remember their good stuff that they did, not the bad stuff. So, remember every time you wake up, be happy that you have another day in your life. Make the best out of that day.

Aren't there some people that are really creative in your class, and you're that one person who is just not creative? Well, sometimes people make fun of you and you just stop drawing or just give up. That is bad because that is what they want you to do,... to stop trying. That is the worst thing you could ever do.
Whenever you're doing something in class and someone starts making fun of you, you should just ignore them. You should not let them get what they want. You should never give up.

Sometimes you just feel like exploding and telling a secret. You just know that it will solve a problem, but you promised not to say anything about it. Well, that has happened to me.
Once, my friends were arguing about this lame old thing, not even worth an argument. I knew how to solve this problem, but I couldn't say anything because I had promised not to.
I knew they were my friends, so I told them the secret and they finally solved their problem.
Friends are friends. You shouldn't keep anything from them. If you call someone a friend, there should not be secrets in the friendship.

What sports do you like: basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, football, tennis, or volleyball? Do you like a sport just because of the uniform?
Some people have been born with a special talent for a particular sport. I like playing soccer. I don't know why. When I was six years old I just started liking to play. When I started I really sucked. I can't say that I am a superstar of my team now, but I'm not the worst one there.
Like my parents always say, “try new things”. You're not always going to stay in the same place you are now. You will improve.

Sometimes there are assignments that I really don't want to do. I don't like reading, and I have to read for an assignment in one of my classes, I have to do it because it is part of my grade. Also, if I don't do it, then I get bad grades.
You can get all mad at yourself for not doing an assignment that you really thought wasn't hard. So, let's just do all our work because we don't want those consequences.

Don't you sometimes wish that we had more vacations? Sometimes though just feel like learning something new back at school.
Well, that is what happened to me once. I got really tired of school because it was always all the same thing, homework and homework. When we got vacations though, I was like super bored. I wanted it to be the day of going back to school already.
Sometimes, we wish stuff, but when it all actually comes to be, it all just gets boring. After a while don't you feel like learning new things?
So, I think we should “never say never” to education. Without education, there is no place you are going to get to.

How do we girls like to wear our hair to school? Sometimes we wear it up, but not most of the time. Usually, it is down.
How do we all think how we look better? Some of us, think we look a lot better with our hair down. Others, for some reason, just like their hair up. On hot days right after physical education (P.E.), it is kind of nasty not to put your hair up. You know hair sometimes turns out to be nasty after sweating. So, next time before coming out of our lockers, we should just put our hair up. It is not going to matter if you look good or not. It is going to matter if you stink like sweat.

What do bracelets really mean to you? To some people they might mean a really bad thing. For us in middle school, it is just in style. Some bracelets are made of beads, yarn, and string. Sometimes they are just made out of some weird type of material.
Some of our parents think that wearing too many bracelets mean something really bad. Supposedly, red equals love. I don't know. The whole point is that it doesn't really mean something really nice. I think that wearing bracelets is really nice, but sometimes, too many doesn't even look good. Four or five bracelets look nice, but an excessive number looks ridiculous. So remember bracelets look nice, but a lot won't look good.

I think that being an eighth grader means you are under a lot of pressure. You have to graduate. In order to graduate you cannot have bad grades. Then, when it comes toward the end of the year, you start getting sad. All of your friends are not going to the same school as you. You're trying to make eighth grade the best year. Sometimes it is not possible. We all have to stay concentrated in our work. When you try it all turns out to be really easy.

I wonder what the reason is for the governor wanting to cut a lot of days of school. I don't think that's right. It's the worst thing they could ever do to students, to us. What is he thinking? We are the future, and we are all going to grow up and be really important people in life.
If he had the right to have an education, I don't see why we have to have a lot of cuts in our education. We all have rights in this world. One of them is for kids under the age of eighteen to have a proper education. Some of us might have a dream of being medical doctors, engineers, or lawyers. There are so many professions in this world that sometimes when it comes to choosing, it is difficult. So, stop the cuts in education. You didn't get cuts in your education. We deserve to have the right to have a proper education like the on you had.

Do you ever ask yourself why when you don't want to go to school you have to go? And when you really just want to go to school, there is no need for you to go?
Well, what are the reasons some of us don't always want to go to school? One reason, is we are all still sleepy and don't want to get up. Another one is that it is too cold outside and you're way too warm to get out of your sheets. Sometimes you just don't want to go to school. I don't think any of these reasons are “reasonable” for you not to go to school.
Sometimes, we ask each other, why are there so many cuts in education, especially if education is the only thing that no one can take away from you. When the governor sees that not a lot of students go to school, he just thinks that cutting education budgets is an easy way to keep this state from losing money. Well, I don't think that is right because if some other kids don't want to go to school, it is not our fault. They are too lazy to go to school. The only reason for you not to go to school is when you’re sick, or you have an appointment, or there is a death in your family. WOW! That is a really big difference from the reasons that I mentioned above.

The Famicom -- it is Nintendo's original gaming system. People say that the NES is the original Nintendo system when, in fact, it is not. The Famicom is the real original Nintendo system. It was released ten years before the NES, but there are a lot of differences -- like the big fact that only a few Famicom games could be saved and some couldn't. I own a Famicom and love it. It has some games that were Japanese exclusives, which make it cooler than the NES. Also the size of it, and the color scheme is awesome. It looks really stylish. There are a lot of advantages that the NES has over the Famicom, but I would choose the Famicom over the NES any day. “Why,” you ask? Because I roll with the originals.

Today I found a funny virus on an old laptop. This virus just kept trying to attack and attack and attack my system. But it kept failing, and that's what made it so funny. My antivirus program detected, and blocked, 47 attacks from the virus/this persistent virus! And every time I deleted it, it remade itself and tried to attack my system again. Once my antivirus program got fed up with it, it deleted the virus permanently and, there! It was gone. What made me laugh were all the failed attacks it made.

The Internet is full of a lot of talented Guitar players. I was looking through YouTube for guitar players and there were a lot of really good players. I mean really good -- like the pros that you all know of. I wonder how they move their fingers so fast to play all those notes? Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to play guitar because it looks really hard -- moving your fingers so fast and trying not to play any bad notes. If I played guitar I would just play regularly, and I wouldn't try to go pro or anything like that.

People on scooters: what's different about them, compared to BMXers and Skaters? There aren't too many of us scooter riders, so when we meet, we greet each other. For example, you would go up to them, say “Hi,” tell them your name and ask them if they wanted to ride together. This way, if you go around you learn people's names, and learn more about them, faster. This is good if you are an active rider who goes out a lot and wants to ride with more people, because you can more quickly find people who live around you who you can ride with. I think that Scootering is cool because it is much friendlier than Skating and BMXing.

Today, I found out that there is a person selling a scooter fork (the part that holds the front wheel) for $45.00. That is really cheap. Some go from $80 to $120,
I am glad that I found that one. I have been saving up for two weeks and hopefully by this Friday (3-4-11), I will be able to buy it.
Then, once I get it, I will hold on to it, because I still need to buy another part for to make my scooter work, That is the only thing that makes me mad.
I hope one day my scooter will be perfect.

Yeah! A new map for “Call of Duty- Black Ops” has been added! It is called “Ascension.”
At first, I was like, “ mehhh,”. But, then I saw the AWESOMEST THING EVER! This map has’ SPACE MONKEEEEYS.’
The “Space Monkeys ‘show what happened when the government tried to send monkeys into space. Somehow, they created the zombies.
The cool thing is that these monkeys throw back the grenades you throw at them.
And they are wearing space suits. ^v^.

Apple computers have the best virus protection, but recently their products have been targeted by hackers.
Apple is a company that makes all sorts of stuff. They make music players, computers, hard-drives, keyboards, speakers, headphones, etc..
However, even after hearing about the hacker attacks, they still have plenty of buyers who are happy to buy and enjoy their many products.

One game I like is, “Call of Duty- Black Ops”. The best thing about this game is the ‘Zombie’ mode. The purpose of this round is to kill as many zombies as you can without being killed.
A hard part of playing this game is the hellhound round, when mutated dogs come after you. It’s hard because they attack you so fast.
There is also a cool machine, called a’ pack-a- punch machine.’ It upgrades your gun to last more rounds.

You should always be careful what you wish for. You never know what will really happen. What would you do if you had a magic wand or something like it? Would you ever wish for something, even though you don't know exactly what you're wishing for? Sometimes, people can overreact and sometimes wish for stuff that you really don't know what the consequences will be. So, we should always not be thrown by its power If we are sure of what we are going to wish for it will come into reality the correct way. I know wands don't exist, but wouldn't one be a little dangerous or a little fun to have?

Have you ever felt that sometimes your family is just getting annoying and you're just tired of them? Well, that is what happened to me. My parents are always saying, to stop doing that, or do this or that. But one day, when I really needed my parents to tell me the right from wrong, they told me that if I found them so annoying why would I ask them for help. I had to go with another person who didn't really tell me the right thing to do. I did the wrong thing. So that day I regretted saying that "I hate you "or "your so mean" to my parents. think that we should never get mad at our parents because we never know what we are going to need t from them. Parents are really valuable. So never say anything to them without knowing if it is going to hurt their feelings.

Well, it is finally Friday. This week has been so tedious for me.
Like always, I have homework, tests, and quizzes. It seems like each year school is getting harder for me. I expected to get even easier, but it's not. Each day it is getting harder and harder. I always try my best but I don't know what's going on because the more I try the worse I do on tests and quizzes.
Report cards are about to come out and I'm really worried. I hate it when I earn bad grades. Normally, there are kids that get a “C”and they'll be happy, but thats not the way I think. I sometimes get frustrated even when I earn a “B”. My parents get mad at me when I get bad grades, but I know that all they want is the best for me. I don't even worry about what they'll tell me. I just get frustrated at myself and ask myself what's going on ? Could I do better than this?
I'm worried because next year I will be going to high school. I still can't believe it because it feels like three days ago that I started sixth grade and now I 'm an eighth grader, getting ready to go to high school. This chapter of my life is almost going to close and I will be opening a new chapter , which will be my high school life. I know that things will continue to get harder and harder each year but that's just how life is. Everyone in life has obstacles to overcome. But I think about it and I think it will be worth it because all of my hard work will pay off one day when I turn into a successful person in life, someone important in our society. Sometimes when I struggle in schol that's what I think about. Or when my brother and sisters are done with their homework and they're outside playing or watching television, I get really frustrated and ask myself, “why me?" Why do I have to have a lot of homework? At the same time, I think about how everyone in their life goes through this situation at least a couple of times. I also say to myself,one day all of this work will pay off.

I think that you have to be really smart to do that. I told my mom that and I said that it was really difficult. My mom said "that nothing in life is difficult when you try." Well, we sometimes just have our favorite classes and other ones are just all so boring that you know that you're just going to fall asleep in there. I think that we go to school to learn, not to rate our classes, whether they are boring or not. But, we all know that we have at least one favorite class. We all have a class that we don't like. So, before we all start rating our classes from boring to great we should just do our work and get our best grades.So that when it comes to eighth grade activities, we are not going to be left out.

Have you ever felt like homework is just a waste of time ? Teachers don't even grade it. Well, that is what happened to me once. I always thought that the teacher didn't even notice if I did it or not. When grades came out, I got a really bad grade. I asked why I got that really low grade and she said that I never did my homework. I told her that she never even checked it. She said it doesn't really matter because it helps you not her. So the lesson of the day was to always do your homework even though you think that that they don't see it. Teachers are smart. Homework may be really boring, but with one point for each assignment, it adds up. So whenever you need those points, they are going to help you.

Taking Tests And Report Cards
For me personally, taking a test is really nerve racking. I don’t really like taking tests because I feel that I have a lot of pressure put on me. I want to get good grades and make myself and my parents happy and proud of me. And, when I get a bad grade on my test, I am devastated. But my parents always say it will be okay next time, and that always makes me feel a lot better.
Report cards are really scary. Every time I get a new report card I am always scared to see what my grades are. Honestly, think about it. What student wants to get bad grades? I feel I am speaking for students everywhere, because I'm a student and I know what it feels like to get bad grades. There was a point in my life where I didn't care what I got on my report cards. But I feel difrrently now. I have my act together and I am starting to get better grades. I am now in my 8th grade year and I don’t want to be the only person in my group of friends to not culminate on stage. I want to have fun in my 8th grade year with my friends. I want to be eligible for 8th grade fun days. For that you need good grades. Now I'm doing a lot better, and I am confident within myself that I will move up my grades and hopefully not be so scared to see my new report card.

Fashion for me is very fascinating. Fashion plays a big role in my life. Someday I want to be a fashion designer well known all over the world. ive always been into fashion. .As a baby my mom always dressed me. She says I was like a doll.
I think that my mom was the one who got me into fashion. She told me that she would make the clothes for me and my other siblings, instead of buying them at the stores. I remember having this Barbie doll, and I always would change her clothes, and things like that. Hopefully my dream does come true and I will become a well-known fashion designer.

I remember when I was 10 one of my best friends slept over at my house. My aunt, sister, friend, and I went to the park and ate McDonalds. We played tag and we played on the jungle gym. Then we went home and sang with the karaoke machine. All of a sudden the ground started to shake. My friend and I were both excited and afraid at the same time because it was our 1st earthquake. We went under the table to take cover. It made me so tired that I fell asleep. Then the shaking stopped and I woke up. We came out from the table and nothing was damaged. I felt relieved.

Sweaters. What are they, you ask? They are one of the greatest inventions ever. They are like shorts but they cover your torso and keep you warm.
I wonder what we would do without sweaters. Sweaters help us fight colds and hypothermia, which is a serious condition caused by extreme cold. Sweaters keep all of us warm.
I love them because they are just awesome. You can get any color, theme or style. There are the really warm sweaters, the stylish sweaters and the plain sweaters for the cold.

I feel sorry for LAUSD workers. If you ask why, it's because so many of them are being laid off after all the hard work they put into their jobs. They are our nurses, our janitors and our librarians. A lot of us have gotten to know them, and for them to get laid off just like that makes me wonder where our money is going.
The LAUSD has got to stop layoffs. It's like saying, “Hey, nice job – now, get out.” Some people barely come to work just to get told that they have to go. It's sad. They help us and we should help them. Most of those people struggle to keep their houses or apartments once they get laid off.

One that I like you may not like, but one that I don't like you may like. Some of my favorite games are Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, Zoo Tycoon, WOW, Minecraft, and Call of Duty. These games are PC games, which is awesome because most people have PCs, so you can play with plenty of people. These games sell for a lot and are some of the funniest because of the experience. One thing I like collecting is Japanese imports. These are items imported from Japan, such as toys, books, games and DVDs. I also sell Japanese imports, which helps me order more online. I sell and buy Japanese imports on eBay, and make my money from there. Sometimes if I buy something and like it enough I don't sell it and keep it for myself.
I have some sponsors on eBay who supply me with my imports. I get paid 25 percent of the money I make from their items, which is cool. I also get to keep some of their items and they sometimes send me thank-you gifts.

Today I found out that we are going to build giant RC cars! This is awesome, because they’re huge and cool, but the price is $60 - ouch! I might do it, or maybe I won’t, depending on how I feel. There are different things I can do with an RC car, but I haven't seen it in action. I have only looked at it and watched the wheels move. I want to try the car out before I actually make it so I can decide whether or not to do it.

YouTube is my favorite website. I love how you can upload videos, subscribe to people, comment on their channel, and become friends with them. I like the socializing part of YouTube and when people like your videos and they talk to other people about them. One cool thing about YouTube is trying to get an account with 2 or 3 letters because those accounts are from 2005, when YouTube barely opened. Now, some are called rare accounts, and some are called YouTube Veterans. Other rare accounts from YouTube are YouTube partner accounts and accounts that have an animated .GIF (moving picture) as an icon, because after 2007 they were banned from YouTube. The people who still have the channels with those icons can't upload any videos, or the icon will stop moving.

One of my most memorable moments was when my big brother Freddy graduated from high school in 2007. When I heard his name as he walked across that stage I felt like something shocking happened in my life. I was so happy that I wanted to cry! That’s why every time I think of slacking off in school, I recall that moment and just imagine myself walking across the stage and having my brothers and parents feel the same way about me. I really hope that I will be able to graduate this year because not only will it make me proud but it will make my parents proud of me. I want to be a student who succeeds. I want to finish my schooling years to make my parents and brothers really proud of me because they’re the ones that I love.

Some teachers have personalities I really don't like. They do things I really don't understand.
For instance, one day, I had my USB flash drive in class. I was going to copy a writing exercise onto it. But the teacher came over and, with no questions asked, took the flash drive. He just took it. He could have just asked me what I was doing, but he didn't. I had an explanation. I had already finished what we were supposed to be doing and had moved on to what I thought I was supposed to do next. When someone doesn't even want to hear an explanation, I just get frustrated. The kind of people who act with no explanation really frustrate me.

One thing I like is the Japanese anime television show "Gundam." The show is really good and it is fun to watch.
However, the most fun thing about “Gundam” is the models! Gundam has a line of robot models from the TV show.
The models come just as parts. Then you need to build the robots piece by piece. Some have a lot of pieces. Once you put them together, they are great because you can change the way the model stands. If you don’t like the way it looks, and you want to make it look better than how it looks on the box, then you can use a "Gundam marker" to paint it.

When I say no, some of them kick my bike or get in my way on purpose to try to get me to leave. A school is like a smaller version of any community. It's got different types of people: the authorities, the troublemakers, the brainiacs, the cool people, the religious people, and the norms. Mostly, people can be more than only one of these types. There are also many people who use drugs. I really feel bad for them. Hopefully, none of my friends turn out like those people. A school is like a smaller version of any community. It's got different types of people: the authorities, the troublemakers, the brainiacs, the cool people, the religious people, and the norms. Mostly, people can be more than only one of these types. There are also many people who use drugs. I really feel bad for them. Hopefully, none of my friends turn out like those people. I like toast. If you ask why, here is your answer! Toast is one of the best things in this world. You can make a sandwich with it, eat it with cream cheese, make a grilled cheese sandwich with it, make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with it or eat it plain. Toast is better than regular soft bread when you want something to stick to it.
Toast can be used for a snack while you’re somewhere away from home, because it doesn’t go bad for four days. That means if you’re starving in a forest, toast can stop your hunger.
Toast is best made in the toaster because you can see it toasting and take it out when it looks right to you. It’s also fun to watch the bread just pop out of the toaster. It’s cooler if you make it into a challenge to try to catch the bread as soon as it pops out.

Last Friday, I had a lot of wondering to do. For what reason, you ask?
Well, there were some kids who were smoking marijuana. Sometimes, I wonder why kids do that. It's not right. Even if you're an adult, it is illegal. People waste money growing it and buying it. It's not worth it, especially if what you're buying yourself is some time in 'juvie' or jail.
I wonder why people like smoking marijuana. They say things like, " It's only one time." Then, they end up getting hooked. And in my opinion, they are wrong to do it even once.

Hello, my name is Lindsay and I currently attend Walter Reed Middle School and I’m part of the Reed Middle School Life blog. I’ve been attending Reed for three years and now I’m in eighth grade and ready to graduate. I really want to achieve higher CST test scores so when I apply to a good college or university they will be able to see these test scores and know that I have always been a hard-working student. I really want to improve my scores so that when I get to high school I will be able to get into the Honors Academy at North Hollywood.

I don't like skaters, because they're all haters. Since I'm a BMXer, when I go practice at the skate park with my friend Juan Pedro, they start to cuss and bug Juan and me. They also say they're going to jump us. Although they were annoying us, me and Juan stayed cool and got out of there. I know all they're doing is showing off. Maybe it's because skating is all they've got. I've got more important stuff to do than get in a stupid fight.

My name is Juan Pedro. I'm a student in middle school. One thing that I don't like about school is that there is too much homework that takes too long to do. I am okay with homework that takes about 7-10 minutes to complete. But the rest of the homework that is more complicated, and takes hours to do, really annoys me. That homework takes a lot of sentences and takes a lot of reading that you can’t finish in one day! Sometimes, I want to go with my friends to the park or ride my bike, but I have to finish my homework. By the time I finish, it is either too late or already dark. The good outcome of doing the homework is having good grades which are visible proof that you are smart. My feelings about this are that homework should be cut short.

Hello, I am thirteen years old and currently attend Reed Middle School. This is my third year attending Reed and I’m ready to graduate. I think that it’s really important to learn how to be a writer. I think that writing is fun and expressive. One of my favorite things is writing because I love showing people our teen lives and stuff happening in real life.
One of the things that is most important in my life is my family. They are a big support and help in my life because they are always there for me. I have three brothers that all attended Walter Reed Middle School and graduated on stage, and I also want to graduate on stage because it will make my parents very happy and proud of me. I live with my parents and brothers, but one moved away and got married. I also have a dog named Osito who is four months old. I love him a lot. My birthday is in September so I just turned 13 last month and my parents took me to Cart World. It was really fun! My parents are the most important people in my life!
Autobiographical Writing Exercises and Middle School Life
This website is a pilot project to help students strengthen writing and story-telling skills through the experience of working one-on-one with personally assigned editors in the joint endeavor of crafting publishable work.
